International friendlies - England boosted as Germany leave out Ozil, Neuer, Lahm

Germany international Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid

Coach Loew, who was left reeling by the news that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is likely to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered in the 1-1 draw with Italy on Friday, said that his star trio would not fly to London for Tuesday’s match at Wembley.
Loew said he would be looking to see how other players fare in what will be a more pressurised atmosphere than a typical friendly.
“The game against England is one of the last opportunities to test some tactical and personnel ideas before the World Cup,” Loew said.
“(Germany captain) Lahm, Neuer and Ozil are absolutely the best (in their positions) so, for me, it is now important to see how other players in key positions fare against a good team like England.
“They will have a chance to prove themselves.”

Arsenal playmaker Ozil has been in some of his best form since leaving Real Madrid this summer, while Bayern Munich keeper Neuer and club team-mate Lahm, a full-back, are regarded as the best players in the world for their positions.
But it is not all good news for England. Borussia Dortmund trio Roman Weidenfeller, Marco Reus and Marcel Schmelzer are expected to replace the omitted trio, with one of Lars Bender (Leverkusen) or brother Sven (also Dortmund) to cover for the injured Khedira.
Weidenfeller, 33, will win his first cap for his country.
